Rights Respecting

What is Rights Respecting?

Our Rights Respecting Ambassadors are advocates for children’s rights. Part of  their responsibilities are to make sure that all pupils at Dafen School are aware of the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) and have their own class charters displayed in every class.

What do our Rights Respecting Ambassadors do?

As Rights Respecting Ambassadors we:

  • Attend regular meetings where we discuss actions to be taken, then take any important information back to our classes.

  • With the help of Unity our Rights Respecting unicorn mascot, we try to encourage pupils to use the language of rights. Remind children of their rights in the classroom and on the yard, using our class and playground charters.

  • During the year through activities, events and assemblies, our ambassadors will promote that all children:

  • have rights and that they should be informed of those rights.

  • should be helped to exercise and enforce their rights.

What is our Rights Respecting Vision?

“Our school aims to deliver skills that will help our learners by improving self-esteem and well-being. Improve behaviour and relationships with an enhanced moral understanding and support for global justice. Encourage positive attitude towards diversity in society.”
