Criw Cymraeg

The Criw Cymraeg are a group of pupils who help promote Welsh in our school.

The Criw Cymraeg contribute to the development of the Welsh Charter, ‘Cymraeg Campus’ within the school. The purpose of the Welsh Charter is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children in a whole school context. The Charter’s main aim is to promote a strong Welsh ethos in school and to provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh. The Welsh Charter requires participation from all members of the school community.

Roles and responsibilities of the Criw Cymraeg:
  • contributing to school assemblies and awarding a cymro/cymraes yr wythnos.

  • introducing ‘Brawddeg yr Wythnos’ (Sentence of the Week).

  • demonstrating playground games in Welsh.

  • promoting Welsh language throughout the school.

  • assisting children in writing on the school’s 'Wal Graffiti'.

  • organising Welsh celebrations such as, Diwrnod Shwmae, Dydd Gŵyl Dewi, Dydd Santes Dwynwen.
